RETHINK AD
Complete end-to-end biogas projects for progressive farmers
Our fully funded on-farm anaerobic digestion (AD) plants support your sustainable farming business on the route to net zero.
Our fully funded on-farm anaerobic digestion (AD) plants support your sustainable farming business on the route to net zero.
We’re rethinking the way that anaerobic digestion is integrated into progressive farms. Unlike most traditional AD models, we provide a fully funded solution from project development through to capital investment for construction, thanks to our partnership with leading European renewable funders.
Our 14-year history in developing agricultural renewable energy projects has led us to create an innovative business model which guarantees biogas project success for modern farmers, removing the traditional funding challenge.
Our innovative hub-and-spoke model means that sites with abundant feedstocks but no gas grid connection point can still benefit from on-farm AD.
Key criteria:
Approx. 1.2ha with good access to road networks and no obvious planning concerns.
Manure or slurry (or the potential to grow energy crop feedstocks) either alone or in partnership with neighbouring farms.
Growing sufficient crops (including grass) to utilise the digestate biofertiliser produced by the biogas plant, either alone or in partnership with neighbouring farms.
To allow feedstock delivery (if required) and collection of compressed biomethane by tanker lorry.
Farmer or land agent who believes their site meets the criteria for a biogas project contacts GFD. We work with them to determine project feasibility, such as location, access to feedstock, etc.
We design the plant and manage the planning application process, including compliance with all necessary local and national regulations, to ensure approval first time.
Project funding is a key priority from day one – not an afterthought. We source full investment in partnership with our preferred funding partner.
We work with the host farmer (and neighbouring farmers if necessary) to secure reliable feedstock supply and ascertain local energy demand.
Working with our team of renowned technical suppliers and partners who specialise in on-farm AD, the plant is constructed and tested, before full commissioning takes place.
Using our experience in asset management, we can appoint an experienced O&M manager to run the plant, leaving the owner to get on with the job of running their farm. Energy and digestate is sold locally and biogas is either transported to one of our nearby hubs or upgraded and injected into the local gas grid as biomethane. Where viable, other products such as clean CO₂ are supplied to relevant markets, maximising revenue potential.
