FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Quite simply, our focus on funding from the very start of a project!

We know from hard experience that finding the right finance for an approved, viable but unbuilt AD plant is not easy. Difficulties in securing suitable investment are one of the main reasons for project failure.

That’s why, unlike other developers, we focus on investment from day one and bring in funding, either from ourselves or our preferred partner SWEN Capital Partners, to remove this well-known barrier to project success.

We also manage initial feasibility, design, planning, regulatory and construction aspects of building an AD plant, making us a true end-to-end project partner.

Our preferred project partner is leading European renewable funders SWEN Capital Partners, and we also have access to in-house funds. By replicating the successful funding model of our Bangley Quarry Biogas plant, we can fund projects from feasibility stage through to providing capital investment for construction.

SWEN Capital Partners are a leading European source of investment in private equity projects, currently responsible for more than €6.7 billion of sustainable assets. For more information, visit their website here.

Our model provides several possible income streams. As well as receiving payment for leasing the land on which we build the plant, farmers can also sell us feedstock. Other business opportunities, such as the sale of digestate and CO2, may be available.

The flexibility of our model means that you don’t have to! Our biogas plants are operated and managed by our preferred O&M contractors. This leaves you free to get on with the day-to-day running of your core farming business, while enjoying the low-carbon and energy generation benefits of AD. However, if you want to have more involvement, there are multiple opportunities to do so – it’s really up to you!

One option is to work in partnership with neighbouring farms and create a co-operative – we have plenty of experience in this area and can suggest various options.
